Tokelau Migration Story
This Pasefika Proud Migration and Legacy series of our Pacific fathers features Niusila Taupe from Tokelau. Niusila migrated in 1960 and remembers adjusting to life in New Zealand, meeting others in his community through work and church. He was later involved in setting up a Tokelauan group that bought land to build the Matauala Hall. His legacy is encouraging children to learn, in school, about their culture and how to live in New Zealand. Credit: Historic footage supplied by Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision and Archives New Zealand.
