Stand-downs

Right now, as part of the Government’s response to COVID-19, there’s no stand-down period. Usually you’d have a stand-down of 1 or 2 weeks after your application is approved. This is a period of time when you can’t get any money help from Work and Income.

If you get paid a notice period or holiday pay when finishing your job, this may affect when your first payment will start but a redundancy payment won’t affect when payments start.

There are other things to consider so it’s best to talk to Work and Income about your situation.
