Help if you've lost your job

If you’ve lost your job or can’t work at the moment, you may be able to get a benefit or other financial help. 

To make things as easy as possible there is information on help available. 

If you’re not currently working, you may be eligible for: 

  • COVID-19 Income Relief Payment 

  • Jobseeker Support 

  • Sole Parent Support 

  • Supported Living Payment. 

Help is also available with: 

  • Accommodation Supplement 

  • Disability Allowance 

  • Temporary Additional Support 

  • Childcare Assistance 

  • Community Service Card 

COVID-19 Income Relief Payment 

If you lost your job after 1 March 2020 due to the impact of COVID-19, you may be able to get a payment for up to 12 weeks.  Each week you could get: 

  • $490 if you worked 30 or more hours a week 

  • $250 if you worked 15 to 29 hours a week 

Your partner can earn up to $2,000 (before tax) a week.
