BreadcrumbsHome / Food Support
The effects of COVID-19 have put a lot of our families into hardship, with many finding it hard to even put food on the table during this pandemic.
There is assistance available for anyone who needs it.
MSD / Work and Income clients
If you are a Work and Income client, you can call 0800 559 009 or go to my.msd.govt.nz(external link) to see if you are eligible for food assistance.
All permanent New Zealand residents
For those who are struggling, there is food available at food banks (and through other food assistance services) across the country. These can be found on our family services directory(external link) - search the Directory by location and category (ie foodbanks, grants and meals).
Those in NZ on temporary visas (work, student or visitor visas)
Anyone who needs food assistance but is not a permanent resident of NZ should contact Red Cross as follows: www.foreignnationals.services.govt.nz(external link) or call 0800 RED CROSS (0800 733 27677).
