Secondary School Polyfestival Hutt Valley 2017
The Secondary School Polyfestival Hutt Valley 2017 runs on Friday 7 July from 5pm onwards. Pasefika Proud is proud to support this secondary school event and from 5pm to 6pm we will be promoting family violence prevention videos and other information to the audience. Come along!
The Hutt Valley in Wellington faces many cohesive challenges stemming from the considerable socio-economic and ethnic diversity it enjoys.
The Polyfestival has proven to be an opportunity for all sectors of the community to mix and mingle, with ages of those involved being from pre-school to college, and schools from all socio-economic areas of the valley coming together in celebration.
Over the five years the Polyfest has been run, the desire of children from a wide range of ethnicities to engage with Māori and Pacific language and culture has considerably increased. For our children of Māori and Pacific Islands ethnic origin, (an increasing number of New Zealand children), this regard and acknowledgement of their cultures builds a sense of self-worth and pride.
This year there is approximately 3000 performers from 37 primary and nine secondary schools, with our ECE centres joining in with their own concert.
The Hutt Valley Polyfest for secondary schools will be held on the evening of Friday 7 July 2017 where up to eight secondary schools will perform. All other schools will be performing during the week.
Pasefika Proud is the key sponsor for secondary school event and an allocated time of one hour (from 5pm to 6pm) will be used to promote family violence prevention videos and other information to the audience.
